Terms of Service

Effective Date: April 11, 2026  ·  Operator: BladeOS, Quebec, Canada

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the BladeOS platform at bladeos.net, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the platform.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and BladeOS, a company headquartered in Quebec, Canada. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time (see Section 20).

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account or use BladeOS. By using the platform, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older, have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement, and are not prohibited from using the platform under any applicable law.

If you are using BladeOS on behalf of a business or organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

3. Description of Service

BladeOS is a multi-tenant SaaS platform built for professional bladesmiths. The platform provides:

  • Public profile pages for bladesmiths with optional custom domain support.
  • Product/knife catalog listings with image upload support.
  • Commission management - custom work order lifecycle management.
  • Work Pool marketplace - customers post work requests and bladesmiths submit quotes.
  • Knife Drops - scheduled knife sale announcements with an admin review workflow.
  • Trust & verification system - identity, domain, and social verification with trust scores and peer vouching.
  • Subscription billing via Stripe - tiered plans with a free tier.
  • Public bladesmith directory - searchable and accessible without an account.
  • Direct messaging between smiths and customers within the platform.

BladeOS is a discovery, portfolio, and matching platform. BladeOS does not process payments for blade or product purchases. All product transactions occur off-platform between bladesmiths and customers directly.

4. Account Registration & Security

To access most features of BladeOS, you must register for an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep that information up to date.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

You may also register using a social login provider (Google or Facebook). By doing so, you authorize BladeOS to access basic profile information from that provider as described in our Privacy Policy. You are still bound by all applicable account security responsibilities.

BladeOS reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms or that we have reason to believe has been compromised.

5. Subscription Plans & Billing

5.1 Plans & Tiers

BladeOS offers subscription plans, including a free tier, with varying limits on the number of product listings and access to premium features. Plan details and pricing are displayed at the time of subscription.

5.2 Stripe Billing

All subscription payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service. BladeOS does not store your credit card number or banking details.

5.3 Auto-Renewal

Paid subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You can cancel or modify your subscription at any time through the Stripe billing portal accessible from your BladeOS account dashboard.

5.4 Refund Policy

Subscription fees are generally non-refundable. BladeOS may, at its sole discretion, issue refunds or credits in exceptional circumstances. Downgrading your plan does not entitle you to a refund for any unused portion of a paid billing period.

5.5 Listing Limits

Each subscription plan includes limits on the number of active product listings you may maintain. If you downgrade to a lower plan, listings exceeding the new plan's limit may be hidden until you reduce your active listing count or upgrade your plan.

6. Smith (Tenant) Responsibilities

As a bladesmith using BladeOS, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, truthful, and non-misleading information in your profile, product listings, and communications.
  • Only claim professional titles and credentials you actually hold (e.g., ABS Master Smith designation).
  • Respond to commission requests and Work Pool inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Upload only content you own or have the right to use, including product images.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding the manufacture, sale, and shipment of bladed weapons and related products in your jurisdiction.
  • Not use BladeOS to mislead customers about product quality, availability, or your credentials.
  • Not submit false or misleading Knife Drop listings.

7. Customer Responsibilities

As a customer using BladeOS, you agree to:

  • Submit honest and accurate work requests and budget information through the Work Pool.
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with bladesmiths.
  • Only leave reviews and ratings that are honest, accurate, and based on your genuine experience.
  • Not submit fraudulent or bad-faith commission requests or work pool entries.
  • Comply with all applicable laws regarding the purchase and ownership of bladed weapons in your jurisdiction.

8. Work Pool & Transactions

The Work Pool feature allows customers to post custom work requests and bladesmiths to submit quotes. BladeOS facilitates discovery and connection between buyers and sellers. BladeOS is not a party to any transaction between a smith and a customer for the purchase or creation of knives or blades.

All payments for blade purchases, custom commissions, and related services occur entirely off-platform between the smith and the customer. BladeOS does not provide escrow, payment processing, or financial services for product transactions. We are not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, or timely delivery of any off-platform transaction.

Disputes arising from off-platform transactions are entirely between the smith and the customer. BladeOS may, at its discretion, remove a user from the platform if credible reports of fraud or harm are received.

9. Content & Intellectual Property

9.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you upload or submit to BladeOS, including profile descriptions, product listings, images, and messages (“User Content”). By submitting User Content to BladeOS, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute your User Content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the platform.

9.2 BladeOS Intellectual Property

The BladeOS platform, including its software, design, branding, logos, and content created by BladeOS, is owned by BladeOS and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, distribute, or create derivative works of the platform without our written permission.

9.3 Takedown Requests

If you believe any content on BladeOS infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact us at [email protected] with details of the alleged infringement.

10. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to use BladeOS to:

  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
  • Engage in fraud, deception, or any illegal activity.
  • Harass, threaten, abuse, or harm other users.
  • Upload or transmit illegal content, including content that violates weapons laws or export control regulations.
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the platform without prior written consent.
  • Abuse or game the verification or trust scoring system.
  • Submit spam, unsolicited messages, or commercial solicitations through the messaging system.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or platform systems.
  • Circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with security-related features of the platform.
  • Use the platform for any purpose that violates applicable law or these Terms.

Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate account suspension or termination, at BladeOS's sole discretion.

11. Trust & Verification System

BladeOS offers an optional trust and verification system that includes identity verification (manual document review), domain ownership verification (DNS TXT record), social account verification (Google/Facebook OAuth), and peer vouching. Verified accounts display trust badges and receive trust scores (0-100, tiered: New → Bronze → Silver → Gold → Platinum).

Verification badges are trust signals indicating that BladeOS has completed a verification check at a point in time. They are not guarantees of a smith's quality, reliability, or suitability for any particular work. BladeOS is not responsible for the conduct or work product of verified smiths.

BladeOS reserves the right to revoke verification status at any time if we determine that a user has provided false information, violated these Terms, or if the verification basis no longer applies. Peer vouching is subject to moderation; vouches that appear fraudulent or abusive may be removed.

12. Reviews & Moderation

Customers may leave star ratings and written reviews for bladesmiths after a completed commission or engagement. Reviews must be honest, accurate, and based on a genuine experience. Fabricated, misleading, or malicious reviews are prohibited.

BladeOS moderates reviews and reserves the right to remove, edit, or decline to publish any review that violates these Terms or that we determine to be abusive, defamatory, fraudulent, or otherwise inappropriate. Users may flag reviews for moderation review.

13. Custom Domains & Profile URLs

Each Smith account is assigned a unique profile URL under bladeos.net/bladesmiths/ (e.g., bladeos.net/bladesmiths/smithname). Smiths on eligible plans may also configure a custom domain to point to their BladeOS profile.

Profile URL slugs are automatically generated from your shop name. BladeOS reserves the right to reclaim or reassign profile URL slugs that violate platform rules, are associated with inactive or terminated accounts, or are needed for legitimate platform operational purposes.

You are solely responsible for configuring and maintaining any custom domain you connect to your BladeOS account, including DNS records and SSL certificate provisioning. BladeOS provides guidance but is not responsible for custom domain configuration issues.

14. Knife Drops

The Knife Drops feature allows Smiths on eligible plans to schedule public knife sale announcements. All Knife Drops are subject to admin review and approval before they become publicly visible.

Submission of a Knife Drop does not guarantee approval. BladeOS may reject or remove Drop submissions that are inaccurate, misleading, violate these Terms, or are otherwise inappropriate. Approved Drops follow an automated lifecycle (scheduled → active → expired).

Knife Drops are announcements only. As with all product transactions, any actual purchase arrangement occurs off-platform between the smith and the customer.

15. Termination

15.1 Termination by BladeOS

BladeOS may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account and access to the platform at any time, with or without notice, for any violation of these Terms, for conduct that we determine to be harmful to other users or the platform, or for any other reason at our sole discretion.

15.2 Termination by You

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting [email protected]. Account deletion will cancel any active paid subscription. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for information on data retention following account deletion.

15.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your access to the platform will cease. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect, including Sections 9 (Content & Intellectual Property), 10 (Prohibited Conduct), 16 (Disclaimers), 17 (Limitation of Liability), 18 (Governing Law), and 19 (Dispute Resolution).

16. Disclaimers

THE BLADEOS PLATFORM IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OPERATION.

BladeOS does not warrant or guarantee:

  • The quality, craftsmanship, safety, or reliability of any blade or product offered by a smith on the platform.
  • The accuracy, completeness, or authenticity of any smith's profile, credentials, or listings.
  • The outcome of any off-platform transaction between a smith and a customer.
  • Continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free access to the platform.

17. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, BLADEOS, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PLATFORM, EVEN IF BLADEOS HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

IN NO EVENT WILL BLADEOS'S AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE PLATFORM EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO BLADEOS IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED CANADIAN DOLLARS (CAD $100).

BLADEOS IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM OFF-PLATFORM TRANSACTIONS, INCLUDING THE PURCHASE, SALE, OR DELIVERY OF KNIVES OR BLADED PRODUCTS.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you in full.

18. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. The courts of Quebec, Canada shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or the BladeOS platform.

19. Dispute Resolution

If you have a dispute with BladeOS, we encourage you to first contact us at [email protected] or [email protected] and attempt to resolve the matter informally. We will make a good-faith effort to resolve any dispute within 30 days of receiving your written notice.

If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it shall be submitted to binding arbitration or the courts of Quebec, Canada, as provided under applicable law. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against BladeOS.

20. Changes to These Terms

BladeOS reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide notice through the platform or via email.

Your continued use of BladeOS after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the platform and, if applicable, cancel your subscription.
